The Baryta carb patient has aversion to meeting strangers and society.
The patient imagines he is being criticized or laughed at. They do not want to look up or to be looked at.
The old people have childish behavior.
The patient has childish grief over trifles. They are constantly changing their mind, laughing at serious matters, and becoming serious at laughable matters. They suddenly become angry, but soon feels sorry for it.

Head Complaints
Baryta carb is used in the treatment of vertigo in old people with nausea, which is worse on bending downwards and when lifting the arms.

Eyes Complaints
The eyelids are thickened and glandular.

There is also photophobia which means the patient is not able to bare extreme light.
The pupils dilate and contract quickly and alternately.
There is a sensation of pressure deep in the eyes which feels better by looking downwards.
Ears Complaints
Crackling noises are heard which is worse on swallowing and walking.

Nose Complaints
The nose feels dry which gets worse by blowing it. There is a scab formation at the wings of the nose.

Throat Complaints
Enlarged tonsils. Tonsillitis is caused by the suppression of foot sweat, cold drinks, and cold air. Tonsils become inflamed with swollen veins. Tonsils are prone to suppurate. In Baryta carb patients tonsillitis usually leads to quinsy which is inflammation of the throat. Tonsils are affected by eating or drinking cold things it is also affected by the cold environment.
There is a plug-like sensation in the throat. Pain in the throat from overuse of the voice. The throat is sore to the touch, a smarting type of pain while swallowing solids, which is worse on empty swallowing. The patient is only able to swallow liquids.
There is an oesophageal spasm as soon as the food enters the esophagus, this causes gagging and choking in the patient.
Chest Complaints
Usually indicated in dry suffocative type of cough, especially in old people. The chest is full of mucus but the patient feels a lack of strength to expectorate. The cough usually comes in presence of strangers. The cough is worse after the slightest exertion, in the evening and at midnight, in cold air, and by thinking about it. The patient feels soreness in the chest and a plug-like sensation in the chest while coughing.
The lungs feel as if they are filled with smoke.
This remedy is also useful in the condition of chronic aphonia which is an inability to speak due to some chronic disease.

Heart Complaints
Heart complaints appear after the suppression of foot sweats or after masturbation.
There is soreness and bruised sensation in the heart. The patient can feel his heartbeat.
There is an increase in heart rate along with palpitation and distress when the patient lies on the left side, accompanied by restlessness and irritability.
This remedy is also useful in an aneurysm, hypertension, and arteriosclerosis.

Stomach Complaints
There is a sensation of soreness in the stomach, which gets better by eructation. The eructation is sour and appears a few hours after having dinner. The eructation feels as if a fire is passing through the stomach leading to soreness in the stomach. There is a sensation on the stomach as of a stone, this pressure is relieved by eructation.
The patient is hungry but refuses to eat, there is sudden disgust toward food while eating. The patient has a strong dislike for sweet things, fruits especially plums.

Abdomen Complaints
The abdomen feels hard and tense, it becomes tender and distended.
